Is culinary school the equivalent to college?
Ok I am in highschool and interested in pursueing a career in the culinary arts. Ive always wanted to go to college so I am wondering if the were some culinary schools that are colleges and you get a degree or if you have to go to a college that offers a culinary program or go to college first and then culinary school?

- same thing . if you mean college and not university.
- You would go to culinary school instead of going to college/university. But the diploma or certificate you will get is not the equivalent of an undergraduate degree.
- If you go to a culinary school which awards an associates or bachelors degree, then it is the equivalent of those degrees being given for another subject matter elsewhere (except that, while most employers can see hiring an English major to do a variety of jobs requiring communication skills, the goal of a culinary student is pretty obvious, and you are not likely to get a job in a non-culinary field with it). If they tell you that at the end of a program you would get a "diploma" or a "certificate", then it is not the equivalent.
