- Oooooo, I know this one! Get him one of those aprons that makes the wearer appear to be only wearing boxers! Hilarious!
- a camcorder so he can tape himself doing cooking demos and shows.
- A really big cutting/chopping board. They always make 'em too small!
- a brand new oven
- more books i guess
- 24 cans of lager should do the trick
- cooking scrubs, hats, shoes
- Buy him a restaurant. Too pricey? Ask someone else.
- How about a nice large basket. Fill it with a baguette, some fancy olive oil, a package or bag of spaghetti or ziti noodles, some nice kitchen towels, a couple of utensils needed for pasta...:) Put raffia in the bottom of the basket.
- A personalized full apron.....Something that has a saying or picture that has something to do with his personality or lifestyle......Or a gift certificate to your local kitchen shop.......
- maybe u could get him an apron thats like customized or something. maybe a special set of salt and pepper shakers or something, if ur willing to spend the money.
- A GIRL TO EAT THE CRAP HE COOKS!!!!
- If you have stores that specialize in kitchen hardware maybe a gift certificate. Or a gift card to a grocery or spice store.
- Maybe this link will give you some inspiration... http://www.chefs.com/search/searchresults.aspx?ctid=3&category=602%7cSpecialty+Tools Bert
- You could get him some premium ingredient, like truffles or a very fine wine, that he'd probably love to cook with but might not be able to afford as a student. Alternatively, depending on the occasion, how about something unrelated to food? If everyone gets him food stuff for every holiday, maybe he'd appreciate something different for a change, like a DVD or tickets to an amusement park, concert, or show.
- Rule: !!! never give knives except for swords. but OK what are the stores they get their supplies from do that store have a registry or just give gift cards in amounts of hundreds Quality food prep equipment is not cheep 70 - 100 for superior knives 50 for pots or pans check here http://www.williamglen.com
- I used to work in a kitchen store so here are a couple of ideas: - Does he use sharpening steels/ have one? If he wants to use one, you can get different grades and it makes a nice gift - Most cooks I have met are always on the look out for even more/ new knives, like Globals or Wusthof or their personal preference). Especially engraved on the handle, as I have heard many tales of prized knives being yoinked. -- The chef whites and shoes can be expensive, so perhaps a gift voucher for a cookery store - A blowtorch and ramekin set - I like the basket full of quality cooking ingredients idea
- Having just finished with Johnson and Wales culinary arts program I can be honest and say this. all of the above are good thought for say a birthday gift. especially higher end equipment. You need to think of it this way. After cooking all day in class or learning about food in classes (6-8 hours). Then working in a kitchen for spending money (6-10 hours) each day. To get a food related gift was a bummer on so many levels. Might not be that way with your culinarian but that happened to me on many occasions and depressed me every time.
- A gift certificate to a kitchen store. Then he can pick what he needs and what he will use!
- Darn, I was going to say a set of knives. :3 lol. Erm... what about a wok? Woks are always fun. Or you could get a set of really nice pans? Cutting board? Oven gloves? I have a friend that graduated from culinary school last year. She used to work at a store called Sur La Table in LA... maybe this link will help? They have a lot of amazing stuff! http://www.surlatable.com/ They also have a free catalog that you can order: http://www.surlatable.com/category/catalog.do? And, if all else fails, giftcards are great! http://www.surlatable.com/giftcards/detail.do
- a great new cool cooking set
- Get him a gift basket that has a bunch of kitchen stuff in it. There is one called "Top chef" that looks pretty good.
- A nice set of pots and pans........ That is what I got for a graduation gift.
- I'd give him a gift card from a store in his area that handles good quality cooking utensils or even a bookstore. That way he can pick out something he might particularly want.
- You may want to try this Student Organizer Software to help him manage different aspects of student life. It is available at www.successtrackersoftware.com
