Culinary arts, hospitality and management of restaurants, or hospitality and tourism management ?

Im interested in these three career, but I don't know wich one is better paid or has more oportunities. Because i want to learn how to cook but also about management of restaurants, Also if there is a school that offers both in the same career? thanks!!!

  1. I took a tour of Johnson & Wales university in Providence, RI a couple years ago and they have a program where you do two years and get an Associates degree in culinary or baking, and then you can do a BS/BA in hospitality management, travel tourism, food and beverage management and probably some other stuff I'm forgetting. I think they have some other campuses in other parts of the country besides Providence. Worth checking out, anyway. There are lots of jobs in the hospitality and culinary fields. They dont always pay a lot, but you will always be able to find work.
  2. There are many schools in Europe that teach both and here as well. But remember for the kitchen many times schooling will not be enough, you will have to have some practical experience so I would suggest doing an internship while you are studying and even for free if you have to as the experience is what is going to separate you from your classmates. If you ask what has more opportunities that would be culinary because there is a huge shortage of good culinary people. If you ask which ones are better paid it will depend on what department your work in as well as what city and what type of hotel. If you like cooking then follow your passion because many of the executive chefs of today never even went to schools. They started cutting vegetables and by working hard and paying attention they rose to the top. Remember a kitchen must be managed as well so the schooling will definitely help.
