Do culinary art schools use wine in their cooking?

I am really interested in taking a cooking course. I know how to cook but I really enjoy it and want to learn how to make nice food presentations. However, I just thought of something. Do cooking schools use wine in their cooking? Due to religious reasons, I do not consume alcohol. Does anyone know?

  1. Ofcourse, some of the best cusines involve wine. Whether you're in school or not. THe alcohol doesn't contain its contents once its cooked. Mostly use a little for adding flavor.
  2. If the dish requires wine, then it is used. Its often a very cheap wine. You can always take the courses, and ask the chef instructor what can be substituted for the wine in the recipes. As the diversity of the US grows, more and more religious principles will be taken into consideration when cooking for others. So it would make a great lesson for everybody in the class.
  3. Yes, they do... When cooking with wine, all the alcohol boils off... You consume no alcohol....flavor only...
  4. What religion are you? I could find no religions that expressly forbid the use of wine in cooking...
  5. almost all of them do, that just depends on the recipe you are preparing. Now I don't know if this is helpful, but once you heat up the wine, cook it up, the alcohol evaporates and the only thing that's left is the that distinctive flavor of the wine your using.
  6. Yes,cooking schools use wine in the recipes.Depending on what you're making, you can sometimes omit the wine or alcohol.
  7. Silly Rabbit Culinary School is for people who can cook with wine too!
