What is the hardest part of culinary school?

I'm starting culinary school in january and was wondering if any one has started their culinary career and could give me some pointers.

  1. i finished culinary school in June, and found that it was a wast of time and money. you can learn every thing that you need to know by working in a kitchen. i started school thinking that i was going to learn a lot of new things, but every thing that they taught us i already knew from working in a kitchen for 3 years before i even started school. then after you are done you will hear that you ether have to much or not enough experience. make sure that you can speak Spanish because every kitchen is full of illegal aliens. and its hard to find good pay because the illegals will work for less money so they drive the pay rate down for every one else. my advise is to find a different career to study.
  2. well, my younger sis finished same course.. the only problem i found out is that it's very expensive.. i mean, you need to spend so much money to buy ingredients.. =) but it's worth it though..
  3. Paying the fees
  4. the hardest part of it is putting up with all of the instructors attitudes - no structure to the school- the huge price and oh yeah dont forget when you are done with the cooking class they make you clean the kitchen which can take a while - they use you to make the food for their retail outlets charge the customers for the food and they dont even need to hire anyone - you dont do the work for free , you have to pay to do it!!! If you dont you will get a bad grade which is irrelevant
