Culinary Career?

i'm in the navy as an HM but i plan on changing jobs to culinary for a possible career out of the navy. i wanted RPS but it was not avaliable at the time so i picked medical but my grades are an a average thus i'd be wasting the navy's money and my money by trying to get into this area of study. culinary seems better because i can combine my artistic talents for the navy and better them while doing my job. as well as it is safer. i just want some opinions on this matter. i am a corpsman right now but that does not fit my artististical abilities and how i can make the best out of the navy. i hope to make a career out of of but an HM really would not seem best. i am in delayed entry and was hoping to change before i ship. so what are other serice members of the navy thoughts of culinary

  1. yes go cs but you work long hard hours when your ship deployees and hit ports you will still be working but if i stay in i am going cs
  2. The Culinary Institute of America, especially a branch located in Pasadena, California offers a 2-year fully degreed program for $58,000 as well as an affiliate 6-months hands-on cooking class for $20,000 [via the Red Kitchen in South Pasadena and Hollywood, CA]. A more reasonably priced culinary course is a 2-year offering at Los Angeles Trade Tech College ("LATTC") for $975 total. The average annual starting salary for a chef in downtown Los Angeles is around $30,000 to $35,000 or $14.00 per hour. Good luck!
