Travelling to Trinidad?
Trini in the house !! What's up Trinis? I am a Trini living in the US for over 25 yrs, thinking of coming back home. I'm tired of the US, but do not want to come back and just sit around or work for anyone. What type of a business you Trinis think the island is lacking or can do with another one.. Internet Cafes Restaurants both local and International cuisine or even a Southern style soul food one. Tourist Services Culinary Schools Personal Chef Services. What are your views on what type of business will work and be successful in trinidad right now? How's the economy on the Island? I have not been in Trinidad since 2004. I'm just looking for ideas.

- So Trini, are you in the market for a business partner? Seems as though we are in the same boat. Drop me a line nuh. I have lots of ideas.
- Internet Cafes? Why computers are very expensive in Trinidad the average person can not afford one pulse pay for Internet service wish I HEAR IS very expensive location is the key so shop around near school areas because its the high school kids into the Internet thing these day and make your price right for kids I had to use the Internet while on vacation in Trinidad and at $10 for a half hour for me was nothing but for the school kid that expensive. So that's my idea.
- The Hospitality & Tourism industry remains a tough business. I am H&T Major and I am no longer in the industry bcause it does not pay. There has been a growth in the number businesses in the industry because Trinidad & Tobago is booming. Everyone liming more, spending more on F&B and entertainment. Any bar, restaurant, etc is always crowded and even during the week. Once you have a good and safe spot they will come and spend the money. We have most of the internation cuisines in trinidad - japanese, creole, chinese, italian, middle east etc. Corporate catering is picking up. Ordering online. www.biteintt.com is a great example. I order from them. I am not sure how long the boom is gonna last again. Maybe one or 2 more years. Good luck. If you looking for a job in Trinidad go to www.caribbeanjobs.com
- Don't go.. Trinidad sucks..
- wow 25 yrs girl come back already i like animals and T&T lacks animal shelters and we need another zoo with new animals and we need more stuff for animals i like to sing and act and i think it needs more programs for youth to get a chance to be discovered
- Food! That's not true bout computers... The average individual has access to computers dese days and people now paying things like 5 dollars an hour cause it so so cheap. Yuh could find ah net cafe in almos' every corner. it jus real popular. Food will always sell once it tasting good and not too expensive cause we like we belly.. But there are other factors like location etc but is ah good idea so yuh could try it man
- research night club or lounge for entertainment .where else in the world can you get people to party but in tnt
- I think you're on point with the tourism thing, though restauranting is hard...but it can be very rewarding. Trinis are going out more and more, we were always a social people, but instead of going to people's homes, we're going to clubs and restaurants more. And the government is focusing more on tourism, Minister Chin Lee (owner of Pier 1) seems to be having a lot of success with this portfolio... I would suggest you contact the Tourism Development Corporation for tourism ops in Trinidad and the Tobago House of Assembly for ops in the sister isle. Nedco is great for entrepreneurs...so good luck!
- Best ideas for business in Trinidad will be to do your own research. But my two cents would be. 1.Animal shelters, WE NEED IT.. 2.Food, restaurants off course, my love for food and I will encourage anyone to do anything where food is concerned. Personally , I think a good restaurant will do well in trinidad, as we Trini people love to eat good tasting food, and we are always willing to try different foods, so a mixture of local and international cuisine should do very well. The food has to be good tasting, offer delivery, do catering, do the works. I was in trinidad recently and I tell you, some of the prices in those restaurants were really high. I stuck to my street foods. Gotta Love Trini Street FOOD. 3. Something along the line to help the youths reach their full potential, especially if they want to get into the entertainemt career. 4. Something along the line to help the young women in trinidad.. ( staying focused, getting an education and stop getting married at a young age) ESPECIALLY IN CENTRAL TRINIDAD. If it still happens. I was married at a very young age.. 5. Organizing Cooking & site seeing tours. ( Bringing tourist from all over the world and while they are in trinidad, you can arrange home cooking classes and site seeing tours etc. 6. Night Club and Lounge Scene, especially bringing over the spring break college kids, your business can be seasonal and you will do very well. Let me know what works for you.
